New store provides wide selection of merchandise, creates approximately 200 jobs
VIENNA, Va., August 14, 2013 – Tysons Corner residents and commuters will soon have one-stop shopping convenience for their grocery and general merchandise needs when a new Walmart Supercenter opens Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 1500B Cornerside Blvd. in Vienna, Va.
Located in Tysons West, the store will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Doors will open following a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:30 a.m.
The new store is conveniently located near the new Dulles Corridor Metrorail at the Tysons West Station that is scheduled for completion late this summer. The Tysons Corner station will provide easy access to the new store for commuters and residents using the Silver Line.
One-Stop Shopping Convenience
The store features quality, value-priced general merchandise, including apparel, electronics, toys, sporting goods, and health and beauty products. It also offers a full line of groceries, including organic and natural selections.
"I'm excited to open a new Walmart as part of the Tysons West development," said store manager Marty Reighard. "We're proud to offer a convenient one-stop shopping location for the community of Tysons Corner."
Pharmacy manager Jackie Ngo brings 10 years of pharmacy experience to the new Tysons Corner store. She earned her Pharmacy degree from Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Sciences.
The pharmacy offers a full range of products and services. Pharmacy team members can answer product and prescription questions and offer health and wellness solutions. The pharmacy will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.
New Store, New Jobs
The new store employs approximately 200 full- and part-time associates, including Reighard, who comes to the Tysons Corner store after managing a store on Virginia's eastern shore. Reighard started his Walmart career in 1999 as an hourly associate.
The grand-opening celebration also includes presentations of $2,000 in grants from Walmart and the Walmart Foundation to local community groups, including Jill's House, Inc. and Westbriar Elementary School.
A Big Family Welcome
Walmart is happy to be part of the Tysons Corner community and is ready to celebrate with residents Saturday, Aug. 17. A Big Family Welcome will give customers a chance to meet Reighard and enjoy fun family activities such as face painting, cupcake decorating and free food samples while supplies last. Join the celebration from noon to 3 p.m.
