The following statements can be attributed to Brooke Buchanan, Walmart spokesperson.

Sound bite 1
"It’s important to note that the incidents on which the charges are based occurred years ago and involved the transportation and disposal of common consumer products - such as mouthwash and hairspray - that are treated as hazardous waste at the retail level. No environmental impact has been alleged, and Walmart has since designed and implemented a comprehensive and industry-leading hazardous waste program."

"Walmart has designed and implemented a comprehensive and industry-leading hazardous waste program that was built around training, policies and procedures on how to safely handle consumer products that become hazardous waste. We continue to run the same program in every store and club across the country that we implemented years ago."

Sound bite 3
"These agreements resolve compliance issues that took place years ago. Since that time, we have provided enhanced environmental compliance training to our associates. Walmart has also developed and implemented more than 100 environmental compliance standard operating procedures used in our stores and clubs."
